As Ghislaine Maxwell awaits her sentence from Federal Judge US District Judge Alison Nathan for sex crimes committed at the behest of Jeffrey Epstein, a new biography of one of Epstein’s better known victims, Virginia Giuffre, is about to be released.
Maxwell, 60, is facing between 30-55 years in jail, if prosecutors have their way. In 2021 Maxwell was convicted of five counts, incluidng sex trafficking of a minor and conspiracy for recruiting girls as young as 14 between 1994 to 2004.
Maxwell has spent the last two years in the Manhattan Correctional Center, MCC, one of the worst prisons in New York. Epstein died in the same MCC jail that Maxwell resides in 2019 by hanging, in an apparent suicide.
Prosecutors have asked for a sentence of between 30-55 years in jail, writing, “As part of a disturbing agreement with Jeffrey Epstein, Maxwell identified, groomed, and abused multiple victims, while she enjoyed a life of extraordinary luxury and privilege. In her wake, Maxwell left her victims permanently scarred with emotional and psychological injuries…That damage can never be undone, but it can be accounted for in crafting a just sentence for Maxwell’s crimes.. Maxwell was an adult who made her own choices. She made the choice to sexually exploit numerous underage girls. She made the choice to conspire with Epstein for years, working as partners in crime and causing devastating harm to vulnerable victims.”
Maxwell’s lawyers are begging for leniency by claiming that, “Ms Maxwell cannot and should not bear all the punishment for which Epstein should have been held responsible.” In requesting a 5 year sentence, they write, that “numerous inmates would not hesitate to kill Maxwell, whether for money, fame or ‘street cred,” including one inmate who threatened to kill her and said that the extra sentence she would receive if she killed Maxwell “would be worth the money she’d receive for murdering Maxwell.”
Virginia Giuffre did not testify against Maxwell at her trial last year, but she has become one of Epstein’s more well known victims after settling a sexual assault case aginst Prince Andrew earlier this year.
Giuffre has submitted an impact statement to the court for Maxwell’s sentencing, writing, ‘I want to be clear about one thing: Without question, Jeffrey Epstein was a terrible pedophile. But I never would have met Jeffrey Epstein if not for you. For me, and for so many others, you opened the door to hell. And then, Ghislaine, like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, you used your femininity to betray us, and you led us all through it. I worry every single day and night that you will get away with it and evade being punished. I will worry about that until you are brought to justice. Ghislaine, you deserve to spend the rest of your life in a jail cell. You deserve to be trapped in a cage forever, just like you trapped your victims,” writes Giuffre.
Notable British Author Nigel Cawthorne has penned a book about Giuffre and her interactions with Epstein, Maxwell and Prince Andrew. Virginia Giuffre: The Extraordinary Life Story Of The Masseuse Who Pursued And Ended The Sex Crimes Of Millionaires Ghislaine Maxwell And Jeffrey Epstein, tells the story of Giuffre’s repeated cases of sexual abuse before she met Maxwell and Epstein.

Cawthorne is known for writing about the Royal family and most recently published a book about Prince Andrew titled, Prince Andrew: Epstein, Maxwell and the Palace
Giuffre was Virginia Roberts when at the age of 15 became a sex slave, or prostitute for Epstein and Maxwell. The new book makes Prince Andrew’s behavior all the more repugnant,” writes the Daily Mail
Cawthorne leaves nothing to the imagination in Virginia Giuffre, which includes numerous, detailed descriptions of the sexual escapades Virginia Roberts was forced to perform, on Epstein and Maxwell, and a number of other friends of Epstein who shared the same, illegal lust for underage girls.
In another excerpt from the Daily Mail, https://www.mailplus.co.uk/edition/features/193374/part-ii-i-felt-like-a-prostitute? two paragraphs stood out. ” But Virginia remained his No 1 girl, one of the very few he loaned out to ‘important’ contacts. Constantly on the move with Epstein, she dined with billionaires, political figures and famous scientists. Among those who accepted her body as a ‘gift’ – according to court papers filed several years later – were ‘numerous prominent American politicians, powerful business executives, foreign presidents, a well-known prime minister and other world leaders’.”
Three years after the death of Epstein and with Maxwell allegedly on suicide watch in the MCC, the details of who these wealthy and powerful figures in American life are have remained a mystery. Published reports claim that in a deposition, Giuffre and her attorney David Boies, provided a list of Virginia’s sexual assaulters.
That list remains unpublished. Both Giuffre and Maxwell know the names of those powerful men. Will either one ever give them up to the public so they can endure the embarassment they deserve?
