County Legislator David Tubiolo and Council Majority Leader John Rubbo join Barbara Segal and Mayor Spano with one of her sculptures
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano joined renowned sculptor Barbara Segal to unveil the newly restored public artwork in the Yonkers Sculpture Meadow on the Hudson.
The permanent sculpture park, located at 20 Water Grant Street, overlooks the Hudson River and was installed in 2003.
“These sculptures have become a staple along our waterfront, part of its evolving history in our City,” said Mayor Spano. “They connect people and that’s what public art is all about. We want to preserve what we are building here along the waterfront.”
Segal oversaw the repair and restoration of the artwork within the Sculpture Meadow and is the creator of the Cloud Living Room, a sculpture located within the Sculpture Meadow.
Sculptor Barbara Segal said: “Thank you Mayor Mike Spano for your unwavering support of the arts in Yonkers and for restoring the sculpture park to its full glory in front of the majestic Hudson River. It’s wonderful to see it flourish once again for all to enjoy.”
Sustaining wear and tear over the years, the Yonkers Community Development Agency funded the restoration that continues to add to Yonkers’ growing urban art scene.
