Last week, Art Garfunkel, returned to Blue Door Art Center for three nights of benefit concerts. Mr. Garfunkel originally performed at Blue Door Art Center back in 2014. He was warmly met by sold out crowds, some who attended more than one performance. Mr. Garfunkel sang favorite songs such as Scarburogh Fair, The Sounds of Silence, The Boxer and more and recited some of his original poetry and took questions from the audience.
Art Garfunkel announced at his performance that he had a dream in which he was playing Kathy’s Song in the encore and he was the happiest that he had ever been. This prompted his call to his college friend, Luis Perelman, BDAC CEO and Co-Executive Director, with the desire to return to the BDAC for three performances. This was met with an enthusiastic,“Yes! Of course!”
“We could not have been happier or more honored to host these concerts and conversations by Art Garfunkel. He gave unforgettable performances and is a consumate showman. Mr. Garfunkel’s generosity in allowing Blue Door Art Center to keep the ticket sales will assist us in serving our artist community as well as providing art education to local residents.” said Michele Amaro, BDAC Gallery Director. These performances kicked off an international tour with more dates to be announced.
Three framed canvas prints are on display at the gallery featuring photos of Art Garfunkel, poetry, his signature and views of the Hudson River. These pieces are available for pre-order for $850 each and a portion of the net profits benefit Blue Door Art Center. Photos from Chuck Lesnick.
