Another DiFiore for Westchester County Judge?

Insiders in the Westchester County Democratic Party are complaining about the hardball tactics of Dennis Glazer, husband of former Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore, who is now chief judge of the New York State Court of Appeals, for his efforts to try and win a seat on the Westchester County Court for his daughter Alexandra DiFiore Murphy.

Murphy (no relation to this writer), a cum laude graduate from Vanderbilt who received her law degree from Fordham University, has worked for the past several years for Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. Her father, Dennis Glazer, is a partner at the noted Manhattan law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell.

But many Democrats are scratching their heads at the thought of Mrs. DiFiore-Glazer-Murphy getting the Democratic nomination for County Court judge. Our insider writes: “DiFiore’s husband, Dennis Glazer, is pushing their daughter for County Court judge in Westchester. The spot would be vacant in 2019 when some County Court judges move up to Supreme. He’s had meetings with Reggie LaFayette, the party chair, and has been calling local chairs telling them they should support the daughter, Alexandra DiFiore Glazer, for the spot, and if they don’t, the governor will appoint her anyway.

“Some chairs have felt threatened by him. Folks are mad that Dennis is telling them what to do. The daughter is not active politically and there are folks who have been out making the rounds looking for the party nomination. It must certainly be unethical for the chief judge’s husband to push her daughter? He may have made donations to the WCDC or the chairman’s circle, also.

“There is one County Court spot for 2018 and that is incumbent Judge Susan Capeci, and she will get the nomination for re-election. The folks making the rounds for County Court for 2019 (who would not dare complain about the chief judge, because they are afraid) are: Noah Sorkin of Chappaqua; Amy Puerto, Judge Blackwood’s law clerk; Ossining Judge xxxx Tawil; ADA Robert Priscol; and several others.

“Glazer has said the daughter doesn’t have to be known, because either the party leaders give her the nomination, or Janet will get the governor to appoint her to a vacancy and then they will have to choice but to support her,” said our Democratic friend and party insider, who reached out to us to highlight this story.
