First games to kick off Sunday, September 28
Alpha Elite Sports, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth through athletic opportunities, proudly announces the launch of the Yonkers Girls Flag Football League, set to debut on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Lennon Park in Yonkers. Games will run from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, offering high school girls from Yonkers and surrounding communities an exciting opportunity to compete, learn, and grow in one of the nation’s fastest-growing sports.
Registration is now open and closes on September 13, 2025. All Yonkers high school girls are welcome to register and be part of this historic first season. Players can register now at www.yonkersgirlsffl.org.
This groundbreaking league aims to open doors for female athletes in Yonkers by providing a direct pathway to official school teams and beyond. With colleges and universities nationwide expanding their women’s flag football programs and the sport officially included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, opportunities for young women in flag football have never been greater.
“As a community, we have a responsibility to ensure that our young women have access to the same opportunities as everyone else,” said Kris Areche, President of Alpha Elite Sports. “The Yonkers Girls Flag Football League is more than a game — it’s a platform for leadership, teamwork, and future athletic
advancement.”
The league is officially licensed by NFL FLAG, providing players with a high-quality, nationally recognized program while laying the groundwork for Yonkers schools to become part of an official NFL FLAG league in the near future.
Alpha Elite Sports invites the public, local schools, families, and community leaders to join them at Lennon Park on September 28th to celebrate this historic first step for girls’ flag football in Yonkers.
