When NFL legend Aaron Rodgers decided to make the move to join the long-suffering New York Jets, fans of the franchise were understandably elated, but their happiness proved short-lived as the four-time NFL MVP was injured within minutes of his debut. Fortunately, the veteran is said to be getting closer to a comeback, far ahead of schedule.
Just five weeks after suffering an injury that was supposed to be a ‘season-ending’ one, Rodgers is already walking and making incredible progress. It appears that his Achilles tear is mending nicely, and pretty soon, the former Green Bay Packers star could be back on the field of play.
Fans of the Jets who feel that their team could make it as far as the playoffs, having not done so for over a decade, can look to back their hunches with a bet. If they choose to do so, they’d do well to check out this insightful look at the best NY sportsbooks to select from.
Picking the right sportsbooks can be the difference between success and failure when it comes to finding the brand that will offer the biggest payout for any potential winning wager.
Robert Saleh’s side have done well without Rodgers and are now 3-3 for the season with replacement quarterback Zach Wilson proving effective. However, there’s no doubt that when their new addition is well and fit to play, he’ll be back in the starting line-up.
On his progress, Dr. Michael Sganga outlined the general situation when it comes to the kind of injury Rodgers’ suffered in the season opener, stating;
“If [the tendon] is anchored into the heel, it’s a lot stronger and can rehab quicker, but the biggest key is the incidents are much smaller. Skin heals quickly, [and] people can get back up on their feet and walk usually within the first two weeks.”
“The whole idea is getting the muscle and tendon back attached to the heel and functioning to move the foot and make sure you do that quickly after the injury so that the muscle doesn’t atrophy and lose function.”
Rodgers has discussed the markers and goals that have been set in terms of his recovery, commenting;
“You have to hit a bunch of different things and be found a certain way, but that’s the goal,” Rodgers said of the various markers in his recovery before he can move toward a return to the active roster. Those will be followed by “practicing and everybody signing off on it. Hopefully, we get to have those conversations.”
“It’s not just going to be boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. There are critical markers that I have to hit as far as single-leg strength and being able to do heel raises and being able to do explosive movements. And these are all progressions that take time.” Rodgers added.
Rodgers is a super fit athlete, and though he is set to turn 40 later this year, there’s no doubting his ability to make an impact at the MetLife Stadium before the season is out, whether that’s in the regular season or in the postseason, if the Jets can indeed make it that far.
