Internationally renowned 3D pop artist Charles Fazzino made a $5,000 donation this week to ArtsWestchester’s Artist Relief Fund to provide more help to area artists negatively impacted by the coronavirus.
In response to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, Fazzino released a three-dimensional fine art print last June with the goal of raising funds for COVID relief organizations. The print titled “This Soon Shall Pass” (pictured above) is an expression of hope and compassion for all of those who are struggling during this unprecedented time.
“I created this drawing to send virtual hugs out to the whole world with the hope that we will all come through this great crisis together,” said Fazzino.
All net proceeds from the sale of the “This Soon Shall Pass” art edition are put in a COVID-19 relief fund from which Fazzino makes distributions to a variety of charitable organizations.
Other organizations that have benefited from the sale of this work include: The Community Food Pantry at St. Mary’s Mohegan Lake, The New Rochelle Bethesda Baptist Church Food Pantry, St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters and New Rochelle Community Action Partnership. Three out of the four organizations benefited thus far are part of the network of Feeding Westchester, an organization dedicated to ending hunger in Westchester County, New York.
Shut down for nearly a year, the arts community has been devastated by the coronavirus pandemic. Nationally, financial losses to nonprofit arts and cultural organizations are an estimated $15.2 billion with 894,000 jobs no longer being supported.
ArtsWestchester, New York’s largest private arts council, launched a Go Fund Me Artists’ Relief Fund at the beginning of the pandemic to provide emergency grants to artists who have lost work due to COVID-19.
ArtsWestchester CEO Janet Langsam says, “With two-thirds of all artists unemployed due to the pandemic, Artist Relief efforts are vital in helping creatives make it through to the time when we are able to restart the arts and open our theatres and cultural events.”

Art galleries around the world are also selling the artwork and are being asked to donate their proceeds from such sales to COVID relief in their local communities.
