One Dead from Blaze on January 1, 2021
On January 1, 2021, New Year’s Morning, at 515 AM, at 64 Bruce Avenue, a 10 family apartment building, Yonkers Firefighters, Yonkers police and Empress EMS personnel responded to a four alarm fire, that started on one of the top floors, either on the 4th or 5th floor of the five story building.
Statement from the YFD: Yonkers Fire Department and Yonkers Police Department responded to a 4-Alarm fire of a five-story residential structure. The fire has been brought under control. Sadly, a middle-aged male victim died as an apparent result of the fire. The incident is under investigation by both Departments. Office of Emergency Management and Red Cross at scene assisting families; number of displaced families unknown at this time. YPD Arson Team also responded and they will conduct their own investigation.
