Westchester nonprofit marks milestone year with national accreditation, expanded transportation services, and November 7, 2026 anniversary celebration honoring 15 people who helped pave the way

TRA Group, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to helping older adults and adults with low vision access essential medical care and remain independent in their communities, is celebrating its 15th anniversary during a landmark year of growth, recognition, and expanded service to the community.
Since its founding, TRA has helped bridge a critical gap between healthcare and access, coordinating free, volunteer-driven transportation to medical appointments while connecting individuals and families with resources that support their health, safety, and independence. From 2013 through June 2026, the organization provided more than 53,000 rides, supported by a dedicated network of volunteers and community partners.
This milestone year has brought two significant developments. Following an intensive 18-month review process, TRA achieved national accreditation from Inform USA, the leading membership and standard-setting organization for community navigation and information and referral services. The accreditation recognizes TRA’s commitment to quality, reliable information, effective service delivery, and strong community partnerships.
In 2025, TRA also stepped forward following the closure of longtime regional transportation programs including RideConnect and New Rochelle Cares; and in 2026, F.I.S.H. Hastings-on-Hudson. TRA helped preserve access to essential transportation as they welcomed new riders and volunteers while managing a substantial increase in demand. These transitions underscore the growing need for accessible transportation and the importance of a strong community safety net.
Celebrating 15 Who Paved the Way
TRA will commemorate its anniversary on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Mansion on Broadway, 139 N. Broadway, White Plains, NY. The celebration, themed “15 Who Paved the Way,” will recognize 15 founders, leaders, advocates, and champions whose dedication helped establish and strengthen TRA’s mission over the past 15 years.
The event will bring together TRA’s community of supporters to celebrate its history, recognize those who helped shape its journey, and look ahead to the organization’s next chapter.
