County Legislator Shanae Williams with kids
On Oct. 10, Children’s Author and Master Storyteller Subomi Macaulay, held a children’s storytime reading at the Yonkers Riverfront Library. “A special thank you to New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Westchester County Legislator Shanae Williams for stopping by to visit us during The Power of Story™ at the Yonkers Riverfront Library!
“It was a pleasure to share the magic of storytelling and celebrate the importance of literacy, arts, culture, and student voice in our community. Through The Power of Story™, we create opportunities for young people to discover the joy of reading, embrace cultural traditions, build confidence, and recognize the power of their own voices.
“Thank you for taking the time to visit and for recognizing the importance of community-centered programs that inspire and empower our children and youth,” said Macaulay.
Her debut children’s book, Mumba the Lion Who Forgot to Roar, released in early 2026, became an Amazon bestseller, introducing young readers to themes of self-discovery, courage, and confidence.
