


On Sept. 30, the Yonkers Police Department recognized nine members for promotions and appointments as they continue to advance in their careers, while also formally welcoming seven new officers to the Department. Mayor Mike Spano and Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza hosted the ceremony, which took place at the Grinton I. Will Library in Yonkers, in the presence of dignitaries, family, friends, and fellow members of the Department.

The newly appointed Probationary Police Officers come to Yonkers with prior law enforcement experience, having transferred from other police departments. They will now bring that experience to serving the residents of New York’s third-largest city.
“Today is about recognizing the hard work and dedication of those who have earned new responsibilities within our Department, while also welcoming experienced officers who have chosen to continue their careers here in Yonkers,” said Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza. “Each of them brings valuable experience to their new role, and we look forward to seeing them continue to serve our City with professionalism and distinction.”
