Governor Kathy Hochul is running against Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman for governor. The big difference between the two is , as Governor Hochul said in reference to an incident recently ” the fragility of life.”
Bruce Blakeman does not understand what that means. Kathy Hochul does. Politicians in general can be quite mendacious democrat or republican. Bruce Blakeman is a racist aka MAGA who looks to support and reinforce the maga agenda of racism , xenophobia and disdain for anyone who is not apart of that.
I am not supporting Kathy Hochul because she is from Buffalo and I am a gradute of The university of Buffalo , but because she ,within the parameters of being a poliltician ,understands how fragile life is and will not allow for the callous treatment of others especially those who are poor and are indigent. This indiifference to those who are black, poor and are not a part of the maga crowd is who Bruce Blakeman is.
He demonstrated this with his connection to the Reagan family where he was a driver for Nancy Reagan in the 1980’s. Blakeman held a rally supporting Daniel Penny, the man accused of killing a homeless man who was soliciting on a subway car. His support was a very loud dog whistle as far as Blakemans white supremacy because this case was an extremely racially charged one.
His constant refrain is the repealing of the bail reform laws that is another racial dog whistle along with his claim that Nassau county is the safest county in the country. I have seen this type of behavior from people like Blakeman before especially with the Lilly white demographics of his administration that is conveyed even more with his all white police department and his commissioner Patrick Ryder who does his bidding.
Mike Lipetri who is a Trump acolyte like Blakeman and running agsinst Congressman Tom Suozzi has a similar profile to Blakeman. Kathy Hochul will not and has not cut snap or medicaid as the Trump administration has with Blakemans support. Blakeman and his supporters have the same mentality that you hear with the code terms “good people” and “good families.” Which applies specifically to white people and especially middle class white America.
I saw this kind of racism for 40 years working in financial services/ Wall Street. What he does not understand, as well as many other people who think like him, is that institutional racism from banks, insurance companies and fha loans and GI Bills where mortgage loans were given specifically to whites . If it wasn’t for that support white suburbia would not exist.
Blakeman has been criminal with his support of detention centers across the country and in Nassau county where Blakeman in his racism ignores and claims to know nothing about the treatment of black and brown people in these facilities. People in these places are not being fed properly, eating molded food and are dealing with sleep deprivation.
Blakemans’ plan as a future governor is no different than Trump. Cutting all kinds of safety nets for the poor as well as destroying health care and support for the lgbtq plus community. Unfortunately he has allies like Mazi Philips as well as some other people of color who are thoroughly colonized in their thinking and promote Blakemans racism and xenophobia because they are sycophants.
Bruce Blakeman should not be governor of NY. He is someone that will reinforce the many evils of Donald Trump and as a recent commercial indicates, “Bruce Blakeman is a puppet for Donald Trump.” Does anybody outside of MAGA really want that?
