“COME THEN, YOU AND I …” comprises a selection of poems on a wide range of topics that the author, a life-long lover of poetry, has written since the 1960s. They reflect strong influences of poets T.S. Eliot, E.E. Cummings and Robert Frost; the music of Gustav Mahler, Benjamin Britten and Dmitri Shostakovich and Alfred Hitchcock’s film, “The Birds.” Some of the poems are elegies of horrific events that profoundly left indelible impressions on the author: the assassination of President Kennedy, the Vietnam War, 9/11 and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The collection also includes several romantic and nature poems.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Frank Pagani has occasionally dipped his pen into the creative process. Some of his poems were previously published in The National Poetry Press, local publications in Westchester, New York and the former Annual Town of Greenburgh Poetry Competition. In June 2026, he was one of a select group of poets across the U.S. who had the honor of being included in the Syncopation Literary Journal, the distinguished semi-annual publication.
In the dedication to his volume, Pagani relates: “My amazing journey began with the good fortune of being born and raised in the Bronx in a household where print news reigned supreme, overflowing daily with a half dozen of the major NYC newspapers plus weekly issues of Life, Look and The Saturday Evening Post. It is not surprising that my first job at age 13 was a delivery boy for the New York Post via a bicycle route in the glorious Grand Concourse that is sadly gone.”
He added: “My great New York City education was pivotal in shaping my life-long career in communications. The early defining moment occurred when I joined the staff of The Piper, the newspaper of Morris High School as a reporter and within a year, I became editor-in-chief. One of my most memorable assignments was interviewing the renowned broadcast journalist and Morris alum Gabe Pressman, at his Channel 4 News studio in Rockefeller Center. As it turned out, it was personally a very happy day for him as he had just become a father and handed out cigars to the staff. No cigar for me as I was underage. But I was smitten by this experience.”
“Looking back, my passions for classical music, films and film scores, Broadway musicals, literature, ballet, art and world affairs developed at a very early age and were immeasurably enhanced in my youth by The New Yorker and The Village Voice. They were the portals I entered and devoured each week—like E.T. feverishly reading Elliott’s encyclopedias and science books and repeatedly asking for “MORE, MORE!”— to learn about the arts and culture of the contemporary scene as I came of age in the late 50s and 60s.”
The publication of “Come Then, You and I…”–which is dedicated to the “incredibly intelligent and committed high school and college teacher mentors who truly inspired me to love and pursue a life of perpetual learning” and his wife and muse, Carolyn—coincides with Pagani celebrating the 14th anniversary of his strategic public relations and marketing communications consultancy. In that role, he has supported a wide range of leading corporate and non-profit clients based in Westchester and the New York metro region with successful public relations campaigns.
