Jordanian Flag Raised Above Yonkers City Hall

Celebrating Jordanian Heritage

On Tuesday, May 19th, the City of Yonkers held a Jordanian flag‑raising ceremony in honor of Jordan’s Independence Day. Community members, local officials, and representatives of Yonkers’ Jordanian‑American community gathered to celebrate the occasion. The event highlighted Jordan’s history, its cultural contributions, and the strong ties between Jordanian families and the Yonkers community. Speakers emphasized unity, pride, and the importance of recognizing the diverse cultures that shape the city. The ceremony concluded with the raising of the Jordanian flag outside City Hall.

Mayor Mike Spano said, “Proud to host the Jordanian flag raising, celebrating the vibrant Jordanian community that contributes so much to Yonkers through education, medicine, entrepreneurship, and beyond. Yonkers’ diversity is what makes our City so special, and the beautiful weather made it even better! You can now see the Jordanian flag proudly flying on the South Broadway side of City Hall alongside our American and POW/MIA flags.”
