Mayor Spano & Revolutionary Yonkers 250 Committee Kick Off Red, White & Blue Campaign in Celebration of Nation’s 250th Anniversary

Official RY250 Kickoff

Historic Sites Video Series

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and members of the Revolutionary Yonkers 250 (RY250) Committee announced the launch of the Red, White & Blue Across Yonkers, a citywide initiative commemorating America’s 250th birthday and highlighting Yonkers’ historic role in the nation’s story.

“This year offers Yonkers a powerful opportunity to reflect on our history, celebrate our diversity, and come together in pride for the city we call home,” said Mayor Spano. “As we honor America’s 250th anniversary, we also recognize how far we have come as a community and celebrate the remarkable accomplishments that continue to shape the City of Yonkers. Red, White & Blue Across Yonkers will bring our community together in meaningful and memorable ways as we commemorate this milestone year.”

The months‑long City celebration will feature patriotic displays, cultural programming, and community events designed to honor the past while inspiring civic pride across the city. Buildings, corridors, and historic sites throughout Yonkers also will be illuminated and decorated in red, white, and blue as a unifying visual tribute to the nation’s semiquincentennial.

Revolutionary Sites Across Yonkers

As part of the RY250 commemoration, Mayor Mike Spano visits several Revolutionary‑era sites throughout Yonkers, placing official markers to highlight their historical significance. A printed brochure, featuring a self‑guided tour of these locations, is now available in the City Hall lobby for residents and visitors who wish to explore the sites on their own. The Mayor is releasing a Historic Sites Video Series, with new videos released every Thursday, showcasing Yonkers’ Revolutionary‑era landmarks and their role in America’s early history.
