CITY OF YONKERS TO HOST CITIZENS EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WORKSHOPS

May 5th & 7th Workshops hosted by Mayor’s Advisory Boards, Yonkers Police Department & Office of Emergency Management

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced a series of Citizens Emergency Preparedness workshops designed to equip residents with the knowledge and tools needed to stay safe during emergencies. Presented by the Mayor’s Advisory Boards, in partnership with the Yonkers Police Department (YPD) and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the sessions will provide practical guidance for individuals, families, and caregivers across the city.

“These workshops are an important part of our commitment to keeping Yonkers families informed, prepared, and resilient,” said Mayor Spano. “I encourage residents of all ages to take advantage of this opportunity to learn directly from our public safety professionals.”

The workshops will cover essential topics including emergency planning, communication strategies, disaster response, and how to access critical resources during severe weather, power outages, public safety incidents, and other unexpected events.

“Our Office of Emergency Management plays a critical role in protecting this city – before, during, and after any emergency,” said Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza. “Through these workshops, OEM is bringing that expertise directly into our neighborhoods to help residents understand emergencies, prepare their families, and respond with confidence when it matters most. We thank Mayor Spano and his Advisory Boards for their partnership in this effort to strengthen not only individual preparedness, but the resilience of our entire community.”
