
On March 5, 2026, at approximately 12:58 p.m., New Rochelle Police officers responded to a
reported slashing at 222 North Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who stated that an unknown male approached him
without provocation and slashed him across the face with a sharp object. The suspect was
described as a Black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
Thanks to rapid investigative work and community leads, officers quickly developed information
that directed them to an address on Hickory Street. There, they located and took into custody
Kiwaun Irizarry, 28 years of age, of New Rochelle. A knife was recovered during a search of the
area.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The
suspect was charged criminally but will be mentally evaluated.
