Plus One, a newly launched organization in New York’s 17th Congressional District, is organizing simultaneous neighborhood dinners across the 57 towns and villages. The dinners, which will be attended by 450 residents, are designed to spark conversations and strengthen connections among neighbors to power a stronger, more engaged local democracy.
To keep the focus on community, Plus One curated a playlist for the evening that features local musicians, and local Holistic Chef Emiko Luna created a menu that incorporates provisions from local favorites Bloomy, Flours, LMNOP and Salinger’s.
The gatherings will take place on Saturday February 7, with evening times varying by location.
At a moment of deep political division and democratic strain, Plus One is focused on something foundational: neighbors gathering face-to-face, breaking bread, and reclaiming the idea that democracy starts with We the People.
