Workshop Helps Participants Explore Ancestry and America’s Diverse Founding Roots
The Hudson River Patriots Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), invites the public to a special genealogy workshop, “Is There a Patriot in Your Tree?” Co-sponsored with the Westchester-Putnam Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution and featuring special guest Mary Hoar, Yonkers Historian, this free, educational event welcomes people of all backgrounds to explore their family history and discover possible connections to those who contributed to America’s independence.
Many people are surprised to learn that patriots of the Revolutionary War came from a wide range of ethnicities, faiths, and walks of life. Participants will learn how to begin tracing their ancestry, use historical resources, and document potential Revolutionary War lineage. DAR members will be available to offer guidance and answer questions.
“America’s story was shaped by people from many cultures,” said Cindy Pramann, Regent, Hudson River Patriots Chapter, DAR . “This workshop is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to connect with their heritage and discover how their ancestors may have helped build our nation.”
The event will take place on Wednesday, February 11, at 6:00 pm at Grinton I. Will Library, 1500 Central Park Ave, Yonkers. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
