Three Kings Visit Yonkers for Celebration

Thank you to the Hispanic Advisory Board and Yonkers Public Library for putting together a great citywide event for Three Kings Day at Yonkers City Hall on Jan. 6. Dance performances and songs from the Yonkers Middle High Madrigal Choir were enjoyed by all.

Smiles, traditions, and learning filled the day as children left with a toy and a deeper understanding of this special holiday. Three Kings’ Day is widely observed by Hispanics around the world and commemorates the biblical story of the Three Wise Men, also called the Three Kings: Melchior of Arabia, Gaspar of Tharsis, and Balthazar of Saba. According to the story, they followed a special star to find the newborn baby Jesus, honoring him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Melchior brought gold, May the light of the Magi kings guide our paths and illuminate our hearts.
