Happy Kwanzaa Yonkers!!

African American Advisory Board & YPL Collect & Distribute 1,000 books

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano in collaboration with his African American Advisory Board and the Yonkers Public Library will host its Annual Kwanzaa Children’s Book Distribution Tuesday, December 30, 2025, 3:00pm at Yonkers Riverfront Library, One Larkin Center (Atrium). In addition to free children’s books, families will receive backpacks and a special treat.

This year’s celebration places a special emphasis on the Kwanzaa principle Nia (Purpose)—honoring our collective responsibility to build, develop, and uplift the community. By promoting literacy and providing young readers with culturally affirming books and resources, the event reinforces the purpose of nurturing confident, informed, and inspired children who will carry the community forward.
