Man in Car Asked Middle School Kids to Get in and Have Some Candy

On December 11, 2025, at approximately 9:08 a.m., the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department received a report from the Principal of Farragut Middle School regarding an incident involving two students walking to school in the area of Farragut Avenue and Ravensdale Road.

The students reported that a white vehicle pulled alongside them and that the driver asked if they wanted a ride and offered them candy. The students declined and continued walking to school. The driver of the vehicle did not follow the students or make any further contact with the students.
Police officers responded immediately to Farragut Middle School. Following an extensive investigation conducted by the Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department’s Detective Division, the vehicle and its occupants were identified.

All people involved were interviewed, and after a consultation with the District Attorney’s Office and a thorough review of the facts, it was determined that the circumstances did not meet the legal threshold required to pursue criminal charges.

The Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department takes all reports involving the safety of children very seriously and appreciates the prompt reporting of this incident. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting any suspicious activity to the Police Department, and families are reminded to speak with their children about not engaging with strangers.
