Two Lakeland HS Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists-Top 1% of US HS Seniors

Congratulations to Lakeland High School seniors Justine Tang and Sean Kowatch, who have been named Semifinalists in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program!

This recognition places Justine and Sean among the top high school students in the nation based on their outstanding academic achievement and performance on the PSAT/NMSQT. They now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships in 2026.

“We are incredibly proud of Justine and Sean,” said Principal Chris Cummings. “Their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence exemplify the values of Lakeland. We’re excited to see all that they will accomplish in the future.” 🌟

The Lakeland Central School District celebrates this significant achievement and is proud of all our students’ accomplishments. We look forward to supporting Justine and Sean as they advance in the competition and to continuing to highlight the outstanding work happening across our schools.
