Crestwood Library, Yonkers -10:30 AM

Cool off at Crestwood Library this coming Saturday, June 28, and enjoy our new program, Crestwood and the Conquest of Space.
Rocket science didn’t begin at Cape Canaveral, Houston, or the Jet Propulsion Lab in California. It started on the East Coast—and, improbably, Crestwood played a role!
CHS member Mark Maiello will discuss Ed and Leatrice Pendray, major players in American rocket engineering over 90 years ago. Ed Pendray defied time at the 1939 New York World’s Fair, influenced an untold number of kids to pursue careers in science, and “came to the rescue” of Dr. Robert Goddard, the father of American rocketry.
Please join us at 10:00 a.m. for light refreshments, and then at 10:30 a.m., we’ll settle in for Mark’s presentation.
