Two Yonkers Water Department Employees Honored for Heroism

L-R-Pete Miele, DPW Commissioner Tom Meier, Tom Greehan

Not all heroes wear badges. Pete Miele and Tom Greehan from the Yonkers Water Department recently came upon a head-on collision at Yonkers Avenue and Midland Avenue. Without hesitation, they assessed injuries, calmed victims including children and helped redirect traffic in the pouring rain until first responders arrived.

Their actions were self initiated and composed-showing true care for our community. For stepping up when it mattered most, Pete and Tom were honored as Yonkers employees of the 2nd Quarter of 2025.

Deputy Mayor Steve Levy and DPW Commissioner Tom Meier were on hand at City Hall to say thanks for going above and beyond for the City of Yonkers.
