Yonkers resident, Jenn DiBenedetto, who is a certified brain injury specialist, and founder and executive director of A1 Service Coordination (A1SC), has been named the Founder’s Award winner by the Brain Injury Association of New York State (BIANYS). Jenn will be presented the award at the organization’s annual conference on June 11-13, 2025. The Founder’s Award recognizes her outstanding efforts to help establish new services or opportunities for people with brain injuries and their families.

A1 Service Coordination is dedicated to delivering top-quality Service Coordination for individuals and families living in New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley participating in the Nursing Home Transition and Diversion and Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver Programs, both of which help individuals with traumatic brain injuries, disabilities, and the elderly community receive life changing medical services.

Jenn founded A1SC after working at different service coordination agencies for the TBI Waiver and realizing things needed to be done differently. Her passion for this work was also driven by her personal experience after facing the challenge of securing care for her grandmother, who was diagnosed with dementia. Experiencing financial strain, family conflict, caregiver burnout, and a lack of knowledge about available resources, Jenn became determined to support others through these struggles.

“It’s incredibly humbling and truly meaningful to win the Founder’s Award, not just for me, but my entire team,” said Jenn DiBenedetto. “While my name may be on the award, it belongs just as much to the incredible team behind me – the people who show up every day with compassion, commitment, and a deep belief in person-centered care. I’m so proud of what we’ve built together.”

Jenn’s background spans a variety of roles, including Service Coordinator, Service Coordinator Supervisor, Director, and Regional Resource Development Specialist. These roles have equipped her with the knowledge and skills to advocate for participants and guide them through each step of the process.

Jenn and BIANYS have worked together in one way or another throughout her years in the field. She’s attended their conferences, collaborated with their staff, and worked alongside board members on various initiatives. BIANYS has always been a constant presence in her work, a trusted resource, a strong advocate, and a true partner in supporting individuals with brain injuries. When Jenn started A1SC, she knew she wanted to stay closely connected to BIANYS and make sure her team had the same opportunity — to learn, grow, and be part of a larger movement of advocacy and person-centered care.

“By founding A1 Service Coordination, Jenn has addressed a massive need within the brain injury community – a truly person-centered service location that prioritizes dignity, respect, and support for the people they serve,” said Eileen Reardon, BIANYS executive director. “Jenn fully embodies the spirit of the Founder’s Award, and we look forward to presenting it at our annual conference.”

In addition to her professional work, Jenn is a loving wife and mother. She brings the same dedication to the families she serves, striving to keep loved ones at home and out of nursing facilities. With her wealth of experience and knowledge, Jenn remains committed to ensuring that A1 Service Coordination delivers exceptional support to individuals and families across New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley.

Jenn DiBenedetto will be presented with the award at BIANYS’ Annual Conference. On June 11-13, 2025, professional, caregivers, service providers, and brain injury survivors will all come together for two days of interactive workshops and educational sessions that cover industry trends and information to support and serve New York’s brain injury community.
