A Tough Weekend in the Rain for Yonkers High School Football

Force Backup QB Justin Navrica

With such a great start to high school football this year it seems our teams hit a slight wall last weekend. ( Just like the Jets and Giants.)

The Yonkers Force lost to Ossining High School 18-6 last Saturday. In a statement after the game Coach Joe Vernice said, “The kids battled for 4 quarters in the rain and faced some adversity. They didn’t give up”. The only TD in the game for the Force was scored on a 5 yard run by Tyshawn Lightfoot. The Force play at Mount Vernon HS this Saturday. The game will be played at Memorial Field. Kickoff is at 3pm.

The Yonkers Brave played a tough game in the rain too! They lost to Ramapo HS 20-9. The only Brave Player scoring a touchdown in the game was Justin Espinal on a 35 yard run! After the game Coach Doug Hogue said, “The kids competed and played hard. It just was one of those games that you can’t wait to move past. No excuses”.

The Brave travel to Ossining this Saturday to play Ossining High School. Kick off is 3pm.
