Force Beat Brave 26-19 in Yonkers HS Football, Win Superintendent’s Cup

It was a beautiful day for a high school football game last Saturday September 21st at Roosevelt High School Field. The annual Superintendent’s Cup was won this year by the Yonkers Force over the Yonkers Brave 26-19.

The game was a hard fought contest all the way to the very end when the Force’s Bryant Easely had a key interception late in the 4th quarter to seal the win! The star of the game and also the game’s MVP was Nazir Fields who ran for 162 yards with 2 rushing touchdowns and he threw 2 touchdown passes to Jacob Henry and Chris Diaz. ( Nazir is a Senior at Gorton High School).

Congrats to Coach Joe Vernice who won his second victory of the year! The Force will play Ossining High School this Saturday at Roosevelt High School Field. Kickoff is at 1:30 pm.

For the Brave, Keba Cisse had a great game! He ran for173 yards and had1 touchdown in the game. Brave QB Zahir Wright threw two touchdown passes; one for 26-yards, and another for 36 yards. Justin Espinal scored a 95-yard touchdown for the Brave.

After the game, Brave Coach Dough Hogue said about Keba, “This kid will have the opprtunity to play at the next level”!

Coach Hogue added, “This past weekend we lost the game but we learned a valuable lesson about being there for each other. This team has plenty of fight but we have to learn how to start fast. We have get down to basics. The Yonkers Force did a great job”.

The Brave take on Ramapo High School this Saturday at Lincoln High School Field. Kickoff is at 1:30 pm.
