The 7th Annual Yonkers Pride Festival on June 8th, 2024, wasn’t just an event—it was a vibrant explosion of color and unity that truly showcased the heart of Yonkers, NY. Thousands gathered for a day filled with dazzling pictures, joyous reunions, and an unyielding spirit of inclusivity. This year’s festival was a powerful testament to the community’s unwavering commitment to equality and its relentless pursuit of a brighter, more inclusive future.
In a kaleidoscope of vendors, attendees, and electrifying performances, the festival was a beacon of hope and celebration. From the iconic Shay D’Pines to the dazzling Angel Elektra, the lineup was nothing short of spectacular, igniting the stage with a day dedicated to pride, empowerment, and unity.
Behind this landmark event was the indomitable Yonkers Pride Board and its dedicated planning committee, spearheaded by Robert Voorheis and Jessika Pineda. The Yonkers Pride Board worked tirelessly to ensure that the festival was not only memorable but also inclusive, welcoming all to celebrate their true selves.
Xunami Muse, from RuPaul’s Drag Race S16, took to the stage, delivering a performance that had the audience screaming with love. Inspired by her energy, many attendees took pictures and recorded videos. Among the myriad of vendors at the event was Michael Stephens, offering unique crafts and engaging with festival-goers.
Michael, an estate sales manager whose eclectic array of goods—from nostalgic VHS tapes to essential clothing racks—drew eager onlookers. The festival also served as a reunion for old friends Bradlee Vasquez and Teejay Williams, both in their 20s, whose bond dates back to grade school, with my own memories of them stretching back to middle school.
The Yonkers Pride Festival was more than an event; it was a revival of connections, a chance to relax, and a profound display of love and happiness. As the sun set on this vibrant day, one thing was clear: pride and power surged through Yonkers, leaving an indelible mark on all who attended.
