Westchester voters will be asked to elect four candidates to serve on the NYS Supreme Court in the 9th Judicial District, on Nov. 7 and in early voting starting Oct. 28.
Eight candidates are on the ballot: four democrats, Justice Fran Connolly, Justice Charley Wood, Judge Rolf Thorsen and Judge Larry Schwartz
And four republicans John Sarcone, Judge Karen Ostberg, Judge Susan Sullivan, and John Ciampoli.
As early voting begins this week, we can announce our endorsement for two of the four Supreme Court candidates right now: They are incumbent State Supreme Court Judges Fran Connolly and State Supreme Court Judge Charley Wood. Both, in our view, deserve your vote and deserve reelection.
We endorse Connolly and Wood because both are sitting State Supreme Court Judges, and both have been rated Exceptionally Well Qualified by the Westchester Bar Association, and received the highest ranking, from the other county bar associations in the 9th JD.
After serving 14 years on the State Supreme Court both Judge Connolly and Judge Wood have the experience of presiding over both criminal and civil cases, and have excellent reputations of serving in a fair manner before thousands of residents and attorneys who have come before them. While there are other Judges also running, the experience that both Connolly and Wood have is what we would like to see continue.
Qualifications matter, and Connolly and Wood have the best qualifications to continue to serve the residents of Westchester. Both Connolly and Wood are Westchester residents, and we believe that Justice Matters so Judges Matter.
We endorse Justice Fran Connolly and Justice Charley Wood for reelection to the State Supreme Court, 9th Judicial District.
