Congressman Bowman Tells Westchester: “I Aim to Govern from a Black Radical Perspective”

Several Westchester Democrats sent us with concern, the following video link of Westchester Congressman Jamaal Bowman speaking about Black wealth, ownership and entrepreneurship.

“I want to share my vision of black ownership, black entrepreneurship and black wealth. The first thing I kept thinking about was reparations, reparations, reparations. And how reparations should be a part of this conversation, as we think about the United States government repairing the harms that it helped facilitate throughout its history on this continent. And the private sector has something to do with this because the private sector has tremendously benefitted from the genocide and enslavement during colonialism, that continues to manifest itself today, in my opinion, in an exploitative, capitalist system.

“When I think about my ancestors being on this land as enslaved people, I can’t help but begin the conversation there and then continue the conversation around the Homestead Act, which gave land and opportunity to white settlers and native born, but did not allow my ancestors to get those same opportunities.

“And I have to continue the conversation with a little more history around Jim Crow the black laws and on and on and on to present day where we have mass incarceration and we have monopolies and we have to take action on all of these things at the same time….I like to take that approach because while I’m in Congress, I aim to govern from the Black Radical Perspective,” said Rep. Bowman.

Comments to Congressman Bowman’s comments include:

“NY 16 is a compassionate Democratic district. But the overwhelming majority aren’t radicals and are weary of your constant race priorities and how they divide us. Whether it’s 2024 or later, you will lose a Democratic primary.”

“So your saying that you ignore your white constituents which is the majority of your district ? Wake up people !”

“As long as this Marxist racist is in Congress representing NY 16TH, you can expect nothing but racism and division out of him. He doesn’t want to represent the Black or White community, only the leftist ideology of the Democrat Party. The voters are fools.”
