Yonkers Middle-High School Named to US News Top Picks; MBK Alum Comes Back to Teach

As students in the Yonkers Public Schools head back to school, US News & World Report named Yonkers Middle High School as the 88th best in New York State.

“Yonkers High School offers Advanced Placement courses and participates in the International Baccalaureate program. In line with the IB program, Yonkers High School aims to create a “community of caring learners” by encouraging community service activity among its students. Students at Yonkers High School can graduate with a standard diploma, Regents Diploma or Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation.”

“Extracurricular opportunities for students include clubs such as Habitat for Humanity and the Gay-Straight Alliance.Yonkers High School is ranked #827 in the National Rankings. YPS also welcomed back former student Nuryel Benitez as a teacher. Mayor Mike Spano wrote, “Young men like Nuryel Benitez are why Yonkers My Brother’s Keeper is such an important program. He is the first in his family to attain a college degree. I’m so happy to hear he will be returning to Yonkers as a physical education teacher at Yonkers Public Schools Yonkers Montessori Academy.
