Basketball Court at Columbus Park Dedicated in Honor of John N. Romano

Mayor Mike Spano, City Council Majority Leader Tasha Diaz, join with members of the Romano Family, including City Court Judge Dan Romano

At a renaming ceremony for the John N. Romano Esq. basketball court, Mayor Mike Spano said, “John N. Romano, Esq. was a pillar in the Old 7th Ward. He often had clients pay for his legal advice with hot dogs. His family wanted to do something to honor him and his legacy of helping Holocaust survivors, new immigrants, and the Park Hill community through charity and philanthropy. We dedicated a basketball court at Columbus Park in his honor. His family says he never played sports, but he often walked in the community, passing the park, and this is where he’d want to be remembered.”
