YONKERS PRIDE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IS NOW OPEN!

Second Year: Three Yonkers Public High School Students Will Be Awarded Scholarships

Yonkers Pride is thrilled to begin accepting applications for their 2nd annual scholarship program supporting the local LGBTQIA+ teen community. Three outstanding Yonkers Public School students that will be attending an accredited college, university, or vocational school will be selected to receive a $1,000 Yonkers Pride Scholarship.

Students will be chosen based on their written responses highlighting how they have exemplified leadership/service to the LGBTQIA+ community and how their identity as a member or ally of the community has personally shaped their high school experience.

“Our mission is to motivate our members in the ongoing fight for equal rights and to honor and celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community, their families, and their allies. I am proud to see so many of our young people demonstrating pride and motivation in this community, and I hope they carry it to college and beyond,” said Angel Castro, Chair of Yonkers Pride. “We couldn’t be more delighted to award three deserving students this prestigious honor. We want to support more local community activists, and getting them one step closer to fulfilling their college dreams means a great deal to our organization.”
