Eagle Scout from Yonkers Honored with “Jack von Hoene” Day

Yonkers resident Jack von Hoene, a student at Iona Prep and a member of Boy Scout Troop 16, recently completed his Eagle Scout project, which consisted of building a “Little Free Library” at PS 121 in the Bronx. Jack, designed and held a book drive to stock the library, was commended for his dedication to community by Mayor Mike Spano, pictured above.

Mayor Spano attended Jack’s Eagle Scout ceremony and presented him with a proclamation declaring March 12, “Jack von Hoene Day” in Yonkers. The resolution said that Jack was a role model for young adults.

Mayor Spano added, “Earning the rank of Eagle Scout takes determination, courage, and leadership. Congratulations to Jack von Hoene of Troop 16! Jack built a free little library for P.S. 121 in the Bronx, working 70 hours collaborating with other scout volunteers for his project. Thank you, Jack for working to make our New York community a better place, I was happy to be a part of your ceremony.”
