Road Rage Leads to Massachusetts Man Menacing Driver and Family with a Gun

NYS Police Make Arrest in Putnam County

On July 10, 2022, at approximately 3:20 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to Interstate 684 in the town of Southeast for a report of a man menacing another motorist with a firearm.  Troopers located the suspect’s vehicle northbound near mile marker 27.  Investigation determined the man, identified as Justin D. Blundell, got into a road rage incident with another operator and menaced the victim, who had children in the vehicle, with an illegally possessed H&K P2000 9MM handgun.

Additional investigation revealed Blundell was in illegal possession of a H&K VP9 9MM handgun and a Sig Sauer 5.56 AR-15 style rifle with a noncompliant ammunition feeding device.

Blundell was arraigned before the town of Southeast Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond pending a future court date.

On July 10, 2022, the New York State Police from the Somers barracks arrested Justin D. Blundell, age 23, of Lexington, MA, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, a class D felony, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony, Menacing in the 2nd degree, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition feeding Device, and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all class A misdemeanors.

Simple traffic stop leads to Troopers in Brewster grabbing an illegally possessed gun in our community

On July 22, 2022, the New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested Bryon A. Bloomfield, age 24, of Norwalk, CT, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony.

At approximately 11:35 a.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2014 Volkswagen on State Route 22 for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.  Investigation found the operator, Bryon Bloomfield, had a suspended license and expired registration.  Further investigation found Bloomfield in illegal possession of a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun.

Bloomfield was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Leader of the town of Patterson Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $3,000 bond.  He is next scheduled to appear before the town of Southeast Court on August 18, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.
