Special thanks go out to the Broadway Community Center for its work in collecting donated prom dresses to give out to high school seniors who will now be able to attend their prom in confidence.
Mayor Mike Spano and members of the City Council joined to help in the handing out of the dresses May 18 at the Broadway Community Center, located at KAP – Kids Allowed Preschool, at 600 N. Broadway, Yonkers.
The dresses were donated by Maria Regina High School students and other groups, who showed their goodwill and willingness to give back and make someone’s prom night special.
The average prom dress costs $100.
The girls were selected through St. Peter’s Church, located at 91 Ludlow St., and by local community-based volunteers. Spano also thanked Charlie Khalil and Tasha Diaz for their work in this successful effort.
