On June 7, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced her endorsement of State Senator Alessandra Biaggi for Congress in New York’s 17th District, which covers all of Rockland and Putnam Counties and parts of Westchester and Dutchess Counties. The district includes Representative Ocasio-Cortez’ hometown of Yorktown Heights. Senator Biaggi is running in the newly drawn district against DCCC Chair Sean Patrick Maloney. In 2018, Senator Biaggi ran and won an insurgent campaign against a GOP-allied Democrat in the State Senate, unseating Jeff Klein, one of the most powerful men in Albany.
