The Palisade Prep Boys Basketball team has gone 3-2 over the last two weeks. On Friday January 21st the Phoenix hosted their league opponent the Greenburgh North Castle Knights and defeated them by a final score of 65-38. Senior guard and captain Deneli McIntosh lead all scorers with 21 points. Teammates Xavier Merrill and Miguel Gonzalez each added 14 points for the Phoenix. On Monday January 24th the Phoenix hosted the Croton Harmon Tigers. The boys were down 13 points at halftime but battled back to win 47-44. Deneli McIntosh led the Phoenix with 19 points and teammate Louis Martinez added 11 points. Two days later the Phoenix travel up to Croton-Harmon to complete the home-and-home series. The boys fell behind again this time by as many as 14 points before pulling away to with 66-58. Again senior captain Deneli McIntosh led all scorers with 26 points, teammate Jalen Brown added 14 and Miguel Gonzalez added 11.
Due to the Nor-Easter the Phoenix moved their Friends vs. Cancer Tournament up to Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, January 27th the host Phoenix lost to the visiting Briarcliff Bears, the final score was 74-52. Deneli McIntosh had 24 points and Jalen Brown added 10. The next day the Phoenix faced Mahopac High School in the consolation game. After a close first half which the Phoenix leading at the intermission, the Phoenix were out played in the third and lost the game 58-41. Deneli McIntosh had 12 points and was named to the all-tournament team. Teammate Xavier Merrill added 10 points. Coach Stahn is proud of his team, they played 5 games in 8 days. There has been a lot of improvement, even though they are 7-7 they are expected to make a late season run before the playoffs.
The team would like to thank Rosa Kastsaridis for helping us fund this tournament. Ms. Rosa always goes above and beyond for the students and student athletes and the team expresses their sincere gratitude for helping us with the tournaments. All proceeds from the tournament are donated by our team to the American Cancer Society. Due to the snow the championship game will take place on February 12th at 12:00pm, at Palisade Prep, between Clarkstown North and Briarcliff. The team is pictured in their tournament shirts, which are pink for cancer awareness.
