Toys for Tots & Salvation Army Kettles are Reliable Places for Your Holiday Donation

If you have come up to the end of this holiday season realizing that you haven’t done enough for those less fortunate, two of the most respected organizations that could use your donation are Toys for Tots, Westchester and the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign. Both organizations are easy to find this time of year. The red kettles are outside most supermarkets or stores, and the collection boxes for Toys for Tots are also all over Westchester.

We spoke to Westchester coordinator for Toys for Tots,Steve Topilnycky who told us “While the area has opened up (although new restrictions are now upon us), we definitely had more drop off locations than last year. But overall, the donations seem to be down. We will be servicing over 25,000+ Children this year in the Westchester Area. This year we did spend a record breaking amount in purchasing toys to fill short falls, in addition to the toys provided by the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. As many American families are struggling to make ends meet, and many parents will be unable to provide even a single gift for their children this Christmas — without help from Toys for Tots! Please find it in your heart to make a gift to make sure Santa visits every child this Christmas, no matter their circumstances.”

Make Checks Made Payable to “Toys for Tots”, and mail to Toys for Tots, PO Box 1207, White Plains, NY 10602-1207 Or by Credit Card (we use short links) http://tiny.cc/_dnt which will take you to the Foundation Credit Card page for Westchester County.

The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign is another easy way for you to make a quick contribution on the way out of a store. This one is easy for me to reach in my pocket and do something, because I know that the person who is ringing the bell has a job because of this fund raiser and because I know that I can trust the Salvation Army to do the right thing with my dollars and help those who need it.
