Help & Serve Others, If You Can, This Thanksgiving

COVID-19 and its ongoing impact on people living paycheck to paycheck or, worse, with no income at all, makes this holiday season bleaker than ever. Food insecurity can be invisible but it’s rampant among families and individuals throughout New York, and in Yonkers.

Several non profit groups and charities are stepping forward to try and help make sure the people of Yonkers have a good meal for Thanksgiving.

The Salvation Army of Yonkers is hosting a meal and distribution on Tuesday, November 23 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. And the Matthew Wallace Foundation will be hosting a grab and go Turkey Giveaway on Sat. Nov. 20 at Coyne Park on McLean Ave. from 12 noon until they run out of Turkeys.

On Thanksgiving Day, from 12 noon-3pm at the Nepperhan Community Center, Project Inspire, Yonkers will hold its 4th annual community Thanksgiving Giveback. Volunteers and donations are needed to feed the homeless and those who could use a good meal. Email to projectinspireyonkers@gmail.com for more information.

And visit YonkersTimes.com, we will update you on more events and more ways that you can help, or if you need a Thanksgiving meal this year, we will try to help you find some help.

Happy Thanksgiving Yonkers!
