In a beautiful display of love, acceptance, and celebration, Westchester Pride took center stage on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024. Hosted by The LOFT: LGBTQ+ Community Center, this vibrant event illuminated downtown White Plains, New York, with a kaleidoscope of colors, music, and camaraderie.

The festivities commenced with the raising of the LGBTQ+ flag at 11:30 AM, accompanied by heartfelt remarks from esteemed figures such as Westchester County Executive George Latimer. Emcees Angel Elektra and Shay D’Pines infused the crowd with energy and warmth, setting the tone for a day filled with smiles, laughs, and happiness.

A highlight of the event was the Pride Pet Parade at 1:00 PM, where furry companions strutted their stuff alongside their proud owners, showcasing the inclusivity and diversity of the LGBTQ+ family. Meanwhile, at the ArtsWestchester Gallery on Mamaroneck Avenue, a captivating conversation unfolded with the Legendary House of Xclusive Lanvin. Titled “Westchester Roots | The Legendary House of Xclusive Lanvin: On and Off the Runway,” this engaging dialogue delved into the multifaceted impact of the Lanvin house, spanning realms from ballroom excellence to music, film, health advocacy, and LGBTQ+ youth services. It was a testament to the profound influence of LGBTQ+ communities in shaping culture and fostering inclusivity.

Adding an extra layer of glamour and talent to the festivities was none other than the sensational Peppermint, whose electrifying performance captivated the audience and served as a reminder of the boundless creativity and resilience within the LGBTQ+ community.

The unwavering support of sponsors such as TD Bank and the Leonard Litz LGBTQ Foundation underscored the significance of Westchester Pride as a beacon of unity and empowerment. Judy Troilo, CEO of The LOFT: LGBTQ+ Community Center, has once again ensured that Westchester Pride was a success.

For many, including myself, The LOFT holds a special place in our hearts. Having worked there as a program manager before embarking on my journey as a certified teacher in New York, I witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of this organization in uplifting and empowering LGBTQ+ individuals.

As the sun set on Westchester Pride, its radiant glow lingered as a reminder of the unwavering strength, resilience, and love that define the LGBTQ+ community. In a world where acceptance and equality are paramount, events like Westchester Pride serve as beacons of hope and inspiration, illuminating the path toward a more inclusive and compassionate society.
