$1,000 Reward Offered for Info on Who Abandoned Yonkers Dog with Severe Cut to Throat

(SPCA Westchester’s Humane Law Enforcement Unit (HLE), under the direction of Ernest Lungaro, and in a joint investigation with the Yonkers Police Department Detective Division, is asking for the public’s help in identifying a dog and the person who abandoned him. A $1,000 reward is being offered by NYS Humane Association for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

On November 21, 2025, a one-year-old tan mixed breed, now named Frankie, was captured on camera before he was dumped at 44 Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers near Oakland Cemetery. Frankie was rushed to a local veterinary hospital with a deeply infected and painful laceration to his neck and throat, largely exposing his underlying tissue. His injuries required a two-hour-long emergency surgery.

“Without proper veterinary care, this sweet dog would have likely succumbed to his injuries,” says Shannon Laukhuf, SPCA Westchester’s Chief Executive Officer. “Sadly, Frankie also appeared to be neglected as he was extremely underweight.”

SPCA Westchester’s HLE Unit is urging anyone with information to call our Confidential Animal Cruelty Hotline at (914) 941-7797. To view the video, please copy and paste this link into your web browser: https://youtu.be/a0f8Wb2kk1I

Note: The SPCA also provided a photo of the Dog and the severe cut on its throat. That photo is too graphic for us to post.
