Iona Preparatory School seniors outdid themselves, catapulting past the previous mark in earning more than $38 million in merit-based, academic scholarships to colleges and universities across the nation. Three-quarters of the class earned those scholarships, and with an average award of almost $60,000, an Iona Prep education continues to pay for itself.

The Class of 2024’s top students — Valedictorian Kristof Spellen (New Rochelle) and Co-Salutatorians Oree Banks (New Rochelle) and Michael Kolby (White Plains) — were all members of the Superior Talent Enrichment Program, have taken 37 AP courses between them, and are off to MIT, Cornell and Georgia Tech, respectively. In all, 73 members of the class graduated with honors.

In addition to merit scholarships, the Class of 2024 has also set a new record regarding athletic commitments as 43 scholar-athletes made theirs this year. That constitutes a quarter of the class and nearly three times the national average! Even more impressive, those scholar-athletes earned an average award of over $140,000 per player, and all while averaging a collective 90 in the classroom.
