Horace Greeley HS Senior Niko Wright Named A Con Edison Scholar Athlete of the Week

Nicholas “Niko” Wright

Congratulations to Nicholas “Niko” Wright, a senior at Horace Greeley High School, for being named a Con Edison Scholar-Athlete of the week.

Niko is a star on the Greeley indoor track team, and he recently won the NYS & Federation 55M Dash and was a member of the winning team in the NYS Federation 4 x 200 relay. For the past two years in Section One, Niko has been undefeated in the 55m Dash.

Niko also won two Gold Medals in the Westchester County Championships and was a catalyst in the team winning a third county title. Niko is a two-year Captain of the track program (indoor and outdoor) at Horace Greeley.

“Niko fills the role of being another coach to his teammates. He teaches, demonstrates drills, techniques, and reviews race strategies to the underclassmen. He is always the last guy at the track,” said Rebecca Mullen, Counselor HGHS.

Niko has a 3.6 GPA and has committed to run for the Bearcats of Binghamton University in the fall. He is known around Greeley as “The Flash.”

“Niko is motivated, easy going, thoughtful and kind. He is well respected by his teammates and coaches. He is dedicated to his craft. Not only does he want to be the fastest on the track, but he is a wonderful ambassador for the Greeley track and field program,” said Mullen.
