As several democrats from Westchester and Long Island battle it out to see who will replace Tom Suozzi in Congress, one of those candidates, Melanie D’Arrigo, called for US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to resign.
Justice Thomas is embroiled in a scandal involving his wife, Ginny Thomas, whose texts made to the Trump White House in and around Jan. 6, 2021, have now been exposed by Bob Woodward and Bob Costa. Justice Thomas was the lone dissenting justice to vote against allowing the National Archives to release docment to the January 6th House committee investigating the riots at the Capitol.
“Recuse, Resign and Step Aside: I’m calling for the removal of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas from his seat. “Clarence Thomas must recuse, resign, and step aside. The reports that his wife repeatedly used her influence to try and overturn the 2020 Presidential election are deeply disturbing, but not surprising. For years, Ginni Thomas has used her husband’s position to further herself and her radical, right-wing agenda—and for years, he has tipped the scales in her favor. All the while, the dark money groups fueling their priorities continue to reap the benefits and build power.“Now that the extent of their corruption has begun to be revealed, we know that they are a clear and present danger to our democracy. But so far, few if any Democrats have been willing to take the requisite actions. It should be obvious that Clarence Thomas should resign or be impeached, and it is unconscionable that only one member of Congress, Representative Ilhan Omar, has called for such. “When I am elected to Congress, voters can count on me to speak truth to power, no matter what. I am not afraid to say that this kind of corruption has no place in our government—and Democrats cannot be afraid either,” said D’Arrigo.
Still unknown is whether Justice Thomas knew the extent that his wife was texting Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, which included, “Help This Great President (Trump) stand firm, Mark!!!…You are the leader, with him, who is standing for America’s constitutional governance at the precipice. The majority knows Biden and the Left is attempting the greatest Heist of our History. I will try to keep holding on. America is worth it!”
