Are Celebrity Presidential Candidates Here to Stay? Oprah and Meghan in 2024?

A majority of voters in a number of states do not want either former President Donald Trump or President Joe Biden to run again in 2024. But with both democratic and republican strategists realizing that the right type of celebrity Presidential candidate brings instant name recognition, and excitement to their voting base, the search is on for the next celebrity presidential candidate to run in 2024.

Pollster John Zogby fueled the flames of a celeb on the ballot in 2024 when he polled a number of possible democratic and republican presidential candidates. The best polling celebrity, no surprise is Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah easily defeats every possible republican, including Trump. Sean Hannity, Mike Pence, Ron Desantis and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, by 13 points or more, with Pence coming the closest-56%-33%. Oprah would be 70 in 2024, and although the most trusted and admired celebrity that Americans could vote for President, most don’t think that she wants to run in nominated, or serve if elected.

Which brings us to celebrity Presidential candiate #2-The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. Yes, she does qualify to run for President; she remains a US Citizen and is over the age of 35, she’s 39 now and would be 43 in 2024.

Speculation began in March 2021 that Meghan was considering a run for public office, but she has never commented publicly on the rumor. An unauthorized biographer of Markle said that he thinks the rumors are true. “The prospect of Meghan running for president is possible and I’d even say likely. I really believe it’s where she sees herself going,” said Journalist Tom Bower.

Meghan has the ambition, self-confidence and ability to speak to the public, and, according to Bower was the “masterminded” behind the new life in California for herself, husband Prince Harry and their son Archie. But Meghan will have overcome, and get used to, the media frenzy which her campaign would attract.

Possible republican celebrity candidates include The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, and Fox News hosts Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, but right now, Florida Governor Ron Desantis and former President Donald Trump are the two most likely GOP Presidential nominees in 2024.

Trump said he wants a face-off against Duchess Meghan. “Well, I hope that happens because if that happened I think I’d have an even stronger feeling toward running,” Trump told Fox‘s Maria Bartiromo. “I’m not a fan of hers. I think that what she talks about the royal family and the queen and I happen to think—I know the queen, as you know. I met with the queen and I think the queen is a tremendous person and I am not a fan of Meghan.”
